Frequently Asked Questions
WHERE ARE YOU LOCATED?
We are situated out in the country in Powhatan County off Huguenot Trail, just 8 miles west of Route 288.
DO YOU ALLOW CHILDREN?
Yes, we love seeing families out at the brewery. We simply ask that you keep an eye on your children and ask them to be respectful of the property.
DO YOU ALLOW DOGS?
We only allow service animals both inside and outside of the brewery. The reason behind this stems from not only our brewery serving more food than the typical brewery but also due to our proximity to the cottages we share our property with.
ARE YOU A RESTAURANT?
We like to think of ourselves as a brewery with outstanding food. All orders are placed at the bar along with beer orders and guests are given a number for servers to find them. Our menu, which changes weekly, consists of around 7 to 8 locally focused and seasonal items intended to be shared. Our menu, which is kept up to date weekly, can be found here.
CAN WE BRING OUR OWN FOOD?
We do not allow any outside food. We provide our own in house food, which can be seen at all times on our menu page.
DO YOU SELL ANY ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES BESIDES BEER?
Yes! We now offer a short list of rotating Virginia Wines by the glass and bottle as well as cider by the glass. Our partner wineries and cideries include: Blenheim, Whitehall, Stinson, and Courthouse Creek.
HOW BIG OF A BREWERY ARE YOU?
Our head brewer, Brian, brews on our small 3-barrel system which is paired with both 3 and 7-barrel fermenters. We produce approximately only 300 barrels per year.
WHAT TYPE OF BEERS DO YOU BREW?
Given the small scale of our brewery, we’re able to keep our beer rotating constantly, some only sticking around for two weeks. Our styles range anywhere from extremely fresh IPAs and traditional lagers to dry-hopped and fruited saisons and barrel aged sours. At any one time we typically keep 12 beers on tap. An up to date draft list can always be found here.
DO YOU SELL YOUR BEER ANYWHERE OTHER THAN AT THE BREWERY?
Due to our limited production, we have a very small distribution footprint. Our beer can be found at a few locations around Richmond as well as in D.C., Norfolk and Charlottesville. Almost all of our beer is only available onsite in 4, 10 and 16oz pours as well as by the growler and crowler to go. We also sell some of our barrel aged beers in 750ml. bottle format.
WHAT IS THE DEAL WITH THE COTTAGES?
On the other side of our 5-acre property sits 13 one, two and three-bedroom cottages. While these are often booked by guests of weddings at The Mill at Fine Creek, they available to anyone on a first come, first serve basis. Check out availability or book your cottage here:
ARE YOU OPEN YEAR-ROUND?
Yes, our tap-room is open all year, Thursday through Sunday as well as on Wednesdays throughout the Spring, Summer and Fall. We have made every effort to make Fine Creek appealing in all seasons with a large beer garden under shade sails and two wood burning fireplaces both indoors and out on the covered deck.
DO YOU SELL WHOLE KEGS TO THE PUBLIC?
Unfortunately at this time we do not produce enough beer to be able to sell whole kegs to the public.
DO YOU HAVE ANY TV'S OR SHOW ANY SPORTS GAMES?
No, we have decided not to have any tvs or show any games at the brewery. Our goal is have you come out for the afternoon, enjoy our beer and food, and most importantly the company of your partner, friend or family…or one of our bartenders.
WHAT SORT OF INDOOR/OUTDOOR SEATING DO YOU HAVE?
Our taproom is a combination of bar stools, tables, and couches. It can seat around 50 people. Outside we have about 50 seats on the covered deck, about 60 seats at picnic tables in our beer garden, and a scattering of Adirondack chairs. There’s also plenty of field space for blankets.
DO YOU FILL CROWLERS AND GROWLERS?
Yes! We have both Crowlers (32oz. cans) and Growlers (both 1 & 2 Liter). You can email us a day in advance through our pre-order form if you would like crowlers pre-filled, and ready for pickup.
